- Fasting
- Do not eat for at least 4 to 6 hours before your appointment.
- You may drink plain water only.
- Avoid sugary drinks, coffee, tea, or milk.
- Medications
- Continue taking your usual medications unless instructed otherwise.
- If you have diabetes, please inform us in advance for special instructions.
- Avoid Strenuous Activity
- Avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours before the scan, as it may affect results.
- Inform Us If You:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have diabetes
- Have recent surgery, infection, or ongoing treatment
- Feel unwell before your appointment
- Dress Comfortably
- Wear loose-fitting clothing.
- Avoid metal accessories (jewellery, belts, watches).
- You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
Step 1: Radiotracer Injection
A small amount of a safe radioactive tracer will be injected into your vein. You will rest comfortably for about 45 - 60 minutes to allow the tracer to circulate in your body.
Step 2: The Scan
- You will lie on the scanning table.
- The scan is painless and non-invasive.
- It usually takes 15–30 minutes.
- It is important to remain still for clear images.
Our imaging team will monitor you throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort.
Resume Normal Activities
You can return to your normal routine unless advised otherwise.
Hydrate Well
Drink plenty of water to help flush the tracer from your body.
Breastfeeding Mothers
You may be advised to pause breastfeeding for a short period; our team will guide you.
Results
Your images will be carefully reviewed by our specialist doctors. Your referring physician will discuss the results with you.
