Before Your MRI Scan
Inform Us About Medical Conditions
Please notify our team if you have:
- A pacemaker or cardiac device
- Metal implants, surgical clips, or stents
- Cochlear implants
- Previous surgeries involving metal
- Claustrophobia or anxiety
- Kidney problems (if contrast injection is required)
- Pregnancy or possibility of pregnancy
Your safety is our priority, and some implants may require additional assessment.
Remove All Metal Items
MRI uses strong magnetic fields. Please remove:
- Jewellery, watches, and hairpins
- Eyeglasses
- Belts and metallic accessories
- Credit cards or electronic devices
You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.
Eating & Medications
- In most cases, you may eat and drink as usual.
- If contrast is required, specific instructions may be provided.
- Continue your regular medications unless advised otherwise.
During Your MRI Scan
What to Expect:
- You will lie on a comfortable examination table.
- The table will move into the MRI scanner.
- The scan is painless.
- You will hear rhythmic tapping or knocking sounds — this is normal.
- Earplugs or headphones will be provided for comfort.
It is important to remain still during the scan to ensure clear images. Depending on the area being examined, the scan usually takes 20 to 45 minutes.
If contrast is required, it will be administered through a small intravenous injection to enhance image clarity. Our radiology team will monitor you throughout the procedure and can communicate with you at any time.
