3T MRI

3 Tesla (3T) MRI - Advanced Imaging for Clearer Answers

Our state-of-the-art 3 Tesla (3T) MRI, a premium magnetic resonance imaging system that delivers exceptional diagnostic performance with a superior patient experience.

3T MRI refers to a high-field magnetic resonance imaging system that uses a 3 Tesla magnetic field, providing greater image resolution and detail compared to lower-field scanners. This enhanced precision helps clinicians detect subtle abnormalities earlier and with more confidence.

Why Choose Our CT Scan Service

Exceptional Image Clarity

The powerful 3T magnetic field combined with advanced technologies produces remarkably sharp, high-definition images that help detect disease more accurately across neurological, musculoskeletal, abdominal, and cardiovascular areas allowing specialists to visualise even subtle abnormalities with greater clarity.

Comfortable & Patient-Focused Experience

Modern 3T MRI systems feature a wide-bore design and patient-focused technology, where our MRI experience would be more comfortable and less intimidating, especially for those with anxiety, larger body types, or difficulty staying still, helping to create a more relaxed and reassuring scanning experience.

Advanced Imaging Capabilities

Our MRI utilizes AI-powered reconstruction technology to optimize scan time and enhance images, enabling more efficient scans.

Greater Diagnostic Confidence

Enhanced image quality supports more precise evaluation of complex conditions, helping doctors tailor treatment plans with accuracy and confidence, especially for complex conditions.

Preparing for Your MRI Scan

To ensure a smooth and comfortable experience, here is what you can expect before, during, and after your MRI scan.

Before Your MRI Scan

Inform Us About Medical Conditions

Please notify our team if you have:

  • A pacemaker or cardiac device
  • Metal implants, surgical clips, or stents
  • Cochlear implants
  • Previous surgeries involving metal
  • Claustrophobia or anxiety
  • Kidney problems (if contrast injection is required)
  • Pregnancy or possibility of pregnancy

Your safety is our priority, and some implants may require additional assessment.

Remove All Metal Items

MRI uses strong magnetic fields. Please remove:

  • Jewellery, watches, and hairpins
  • Eyeglasses
  • Belts and metallic accessories
  • Credit cards or electronic devices

You may be asked to change into a hospital gown.

Eating & Medications

  • In most cases, you may eat and drink as usual.
  • If contrast is required, specific instructions may be provided.
  • Continue your regular medications unless advised otherwise.

During Your MRI Scan

What to Expect:

  • You will lie on a comfortable examination table.
  • The table will move into the MRI scanner.
  • The scan is painless.
  • You will hear rhythmic tapping or knocking sounds — this is normal.
  • Earplugs or headphones will be provided for comfort.

It is important to remain still during the scan to ensure clear images. Depending on the area being examined, the scan usually takes 20 to 45 minutes.

If contrast is required, it will be administered through a small intravenous injection to enhance image clarity. Our radiology team will monitor you throughout the procedure and can communicate with you at any time.

After Your MRI Scan

Resume Normal Activities

Most patients can return to normal daily activities immediately after the scan.

Results

Your MRI images will be carefully reviewed by our radiologist. MRI images and reports can be accessed through the SunMed Go mobile application. Hardcopy images and report are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. MRI does not use radiation. It uses magnetic fields and radio waves, making it a safe and non-invasive imaging method for most patients.
A 3T MRI scan does not usually take longer than a regular MRI—but the exact time depends on what part of your body is being scanned.
3T MRI is especially helpful for:
  • Brain and neurological disorders
  • Spine and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Sports injuries
  • Detailed soft tissue assessment
  • Tumour detection and monitoring
Your doctor will advise if 3T MRI is appropriate for your condition.
No. MRI scans are painless. You will need to lie still during the scan, but the procedure itself does not cause discomfort.
Wear comfortable clothing without metal components. You may be asked to change into a hospital gown. Remove jewellery, watches, and metallic accessories before the scan.
Your images will be reviewed by our radiologist, and the results will be shared with your referring doctor, who will discuss them with you.
